Fashion Icon Romaine Brooks, 1935

This 1935 phtograph by Carl Van Vechten shows Romaine to have been way ahead of her time. She could give Hugo Boss, Chanel and Prada lessons in what it means to be fashionable. This is far more stylish and modern in a classic sense than much of what passes for fashionable currently. All the hype with fingerless leather gloves, watch watch fobs and S/M tight lacing plaes in comparison with Romaine's satorial savvy. You know what the song says, either you got it or you aint!" She's definately got IT.
